Faapepele Hunkin is from the beautiful island of Samoa, and she goes by Pele for short, which means sweetheart. She has overcome many trials and life challenges to become the fierce woman of God today. She is a vessel of love and positivity who believes in having an attitude of gratitude in all circumstances.
She is a Samoan author, a three-time co-author, and founder of Pele Inspire. She is a widow and a devoted mother of four loving children, Nicole, Dean Jr., Victoria, and Isabella. Faapepele is a certified inspiring motivational speaker of Les Brown and a certified life coach. Pele is a graduate of Fa’asao High School and a first-generation college graduate with a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration.
She is a United States Army retiree who served honorably and distinctively for 19 years in various organizations and deployments before retiring as a Sergeant First Class in October 2013.
She loves to share her knowledge of inspiration, love, hope, and joy with the world. Resilient, passionate, caring, and dedicated, Pele’s passion is to make a positive difference in the lives of those she meets in her journey to live full and die empty. She believes that having love and unshakeable faith through life’s adversities will inspire people to step up and shake up all the obstacles and curves life throws their way.
Faapepele is an ambassador of the Re-Discover Me community of Columbia, South Carolina. The Wounded Warrior Project featured her in 2020 for her appreciation of the services provided as she is a Wounded Warrior Alumni. She was featured in the Power Voice Summit with the world’s most incredible motivational speaker, Mr. Les Brown, and the Power Voice team in 2020. The South Carolina International Festival (2015) and the South Carolina Commission Minority Affairs (2021) featured her as the first Samoan to represent the island of Samoa.
